The 2022 Genealogy Fair will be held IN PERSON in ELI and GILES, 1st Floor, Mitchell Memorial Library AND on-line (link iwll be emailed on registration)
There is ONE link for the ENTIRE day and attendees may come and go as they please.
1-2 Introducing the Lantern Project – Jennifer McGillan, Coordinator of Manuscripts, Mississippi State University

Attendees will learn about the Lantern Project, a multi-state and multi-institution effort to digitize legal records of enslaved persons generously funded by the National Historic Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) of the National Archives and get tips on navigating both the project digital collection and specific historic documents included in the project, such as probate records.

3:30-4:30 Workshop: Finding the Trail: Making and Using Maps in Genealogy Research, Jennifer McGillan, Associate Professor / Coordinator of Manuscripts
Learn about using and making maps for the purpose of genealogy research and telling your family story, using resources available in Special Collections and on the web, such as personal and family papers, community newspapers on microfilm, Civil War records, and community histories!
