Freedom Summer: The Summer That Changed Democracy in America In-Person
Dr. Leslie Burl McLemore, former Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) activist, founding member of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, civil rights leader, professor at Jackson State University, and director of the Fannie Lou Hamer National Institute on Citizenship and Democracy, will give a lecture commemorating the 60th anniversary of Freedom Summer and stressing the importance of preserving democracy in America. The lecture, followed by a light reception, will be held in the library's John Grisham Room on the third floor.
